Alejandra Bernal is an energy and environmental lawyer with over eight years of experience both in public office and private practice. Currently, Ms. Bernal serves as Head of International Affairs at the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Colombia. As a gender equality advocate, Ms. Bernal led the creation of a Gender Affairs Committee within the Ministry, which today advises on the implementation of policies and initiatives on this subject. Before joining the public sector, she worked as an associate attorney at Gómez-Pinzon Abogados, a top-tier law firm in Colombia, where she advised local and international clients on complex M&A transactions related to the energy industry. Ms. Bernal holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Universidad de los Andes, a graduate degree in environmental law from Universidad Externado de Colombia, and she graduated with Distinction Honours from a Master in Environment and Sustainable Development at University College London.
