The Armenia National Committee aims to promote sustainable energy development in Armenia, as a part of the Council’s energy vision. As a member of the Council's network, the organisation is committed to representing the Armenian perspective within national, regional and global energy debates. The committee includes a variety of members to ensure that the diverse energy interests of Armenia are appropriately represented. Members of the committee are invited to attend high-level events, participate in energy-focused study groups, contribute to technical research and be a part of the global energy dialogue.
Hakob Vardanyan serves as the Chair of the World Energy Council Armenian Member Committee, as well as the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure where he has been since June 2019, following a year as the Deputy Minister of RA Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources.
Vardanyan has been engaged in the energy sector since 2016, having worked in several positions including Head of Investment Projects at Tashir Group, Deputy Director for Security and Control at Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC, and Director for Issues of Financial-Economic and Supply at High Voltage Electric Networks CJSC.
Previously, Vardanyan worked as Head of Risk Management and Insurance at RESO Insurance, Business Development Consultant at Bliley Technologies, Business Analyst and Project Manager at Constant Development, Investment Director at Helios Group and Risk Management Director at Golden State Bank. He graduated from the Armenian State University of Economics in 2011 and Pennsylvania State University in 2015, and has the qualification of Magister of Management.
Mnatsakan Mnatsakanyan has served as the secretary of the Armenian National Committee of the World Energy Council since June 2015.
Mnatsakanyan also serves as the General Director of Electric Power System Operator CJSC, where he has worked since 2007. He has had a valuable contribution to the operation, management and development of the electric power industry of the republic throughout the 44 years of his career, including his work at various enterprises across Armenia including Eastern Electric Networks, Armglavenergo, Armglavenergo, the Ministry of Energy of the RA, High-Voltage Electric Networks CJSC, and Electric Networks CJSC.
He graduated from Marx Polytechnic Institute of Yerevan in 1976 with the qualification of an electrical engineer, and has been awarded numerous honours and titles including a Medal For Labour Valour, the Gold medal of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems of the Russian Federation for contribution to the development of the Armenian economy, the title of Honored Engineer of the CIS countries, Fellow of Engineering Academy of RA, Fellow of the International Engineering Academy, the Honorary Title of Honored Engineer of Russia, and the Certificate of Merit from Council of CIS State Leaders.
