Assembly of Kosovo
Learta works as the Advisor for Sustainable Development and Partnerships at the Cabinet of the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, with a special focus on covering the energy and the environment portfolio. Previously, for more than 6 years, Learta worked as a senior researcher and operations manager at the Institute for Development Policy (INDEP), a local think tank in Kosovo promoting sustainable development and the green agenda. She has extensive experience in working with civil society organizations in the area of policy research and analysis, advocacy and stakeholder management. Her research work focuses on energy policy, particularly RES, energy efficiency and energy transition, climate change, 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals, as well as, regional cooperation. With a BA in Applied Arts and Sciences and a MA in Law and Economics, Learta specialized in the field of Economic Policy and Business Law. After finishing her master degree, she initially engaged in some development consultancy work with local and international organizations to thereafter continue with work in the area of policy research. Learta is a 3rd year Future Energy Leader (FEL – 100).
The Assembly is the legislative institution of the Republic of Kosovo, elected directly by the people. It has 120 MPs elected by secret voting. The Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo is elected for a four-year term. During their parliamentary mandate, MPs conduct a series of functions. They review and adopt draft laws and decisions, represent and defend rights and interests of citizens, oversee the work of the government and independent institutions, and approve the budget of Kosovo.
